Christmas countdown calendar printable

It always surprises me how quickly the ‘ber months fly by. One minute we’re saying hello to Septembe, and the next we’re wondering where the mince pies and fairy lights have come from!

That’s why I love to start my Christmas preparations early — not in a frantic, overwhelming way, but slowly and gently. A little each week, so by the time December arrives, I can enjoy the magic without the stress. ✨

This year, I’ve created something special to help you do the same — a  Slow & Seasonal Christmas Countdown Calendar. It’s a gentle guide to keep you on track, so you can enjoy the festive season with more calm and less chaos.

What is the Christmas Countdown Calendar?

Think of it as your cosy little companion for the festive run-up. Each day offers a simple prompt or reminder — small steps that help you:

  • Stay organised (without overwhelm).

  • Sprinkle in festive joy early (like choosing a Christmas scent or making a cosy playlist).

  • Keep up with mindful, seasonal living alongside the holiday prep.

  • Create more space for connection, cosiness, and joy.

It’s not about doing more, it’s about doing it slower — so Christmas feels magical again.

What You'll Find on the Calendar

Your Christmas Countdown Calendar includes prompts like:

✨ Declutter one small space to make room for festive cheer.
✨ Write your Christmas card list with a mug of something cosy.
✨ Put aside a little time for wrapping or crafting.
✨ Bake something spiced to fill the house with seasonal scents – see my Cinnamon Bun recipe below
✨ Organise time with friends – think Christmas Market.

These gentle nudges mean you won’t feel the December rush, and you’ll arrive at Christmas with more energy to actually enjoy it.

Homemade Cinnamon Buns Recipe (Perfect for Cosy Days)

Is there anything better than the smell of freshly baked cinnamon buns wafting through the house? These soft, fluffy buns are swirled with buttery cinnamon sugar and finished with a simple glaze — perfect with a steaming mug of something cosy.

Ingredients

For the dough

  • 500g strong white bread flour (plus extra for dusting)
  • 7g sachet fast-action dried yeast
  • 50g caster sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 250ml warm milk
  • 75g unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg

For the filling

  • 100g soft unsalted butter
  • 100g soft brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon

For the glaze

  • 100g icing sugar
  • 1–2 tbsp milk

Method

  1. Make the dough: Mix flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Stir in warm milk, melted butter, and egg. Knead until smooth and springy (8–10 mins by hand or 5 mins with dough hook).
  2. First rise: Place dough in an oiled bowl, cover, and leave to rise for 1 hour until doubled.
  3. Prepare filling: Mix butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon into a paste.
  4. Shape the buns: Roll dough into a rectangle (40x30cm). Spread filling evenly. Roll tightly from the long edge, then slice into 12 pieces. Arrange in a greased tin.
  5. Second rise: Cover and leave for 30 minutes until puffed up.
  6. Bake: Preheat oven to 180°C (160°C fan) / 350°F. Bake for 20–25 minutes until golden.
  7. Glaze: Mix icing sugar with milk until smooth. Drizzle over warm buns and serve.

Slow & Seasonal Tip

Cinnamon buns are best enjoyed fresh from the oven, but they also freeze beautifully. Bake a batch, freeze half, and you’ll have instant coziness on hand for chilly autumn mornings.
