WHO WE ARE

‘We’ Thoroughly Modern Grandma is the blog and I am Frankie Jacklin an individual blogger.  This Privacy Policy is just to let you know how I gather and store your personal data and to ensure that you know I am committed to maintaining your trust and confidence when you visit my blog.  In particular, I want you to know that I will NEVER sell, rent or trade your information with other companies, businesses or bloggers for marketing purposes. 

However, if you are still concerned read on to understand why I collect your personal information, how I use it, any conditions under which I may disclose it to others and how I keep it secure.  You can be confident I will never bombard you with emails and correspondence that you never asked for.

TYPES OF DATA WE COLLECT

WEBSITE COOKIES

On my website I use cookies to collect information.  This includes information about browsing behaviour by people who access the website, mainly, information about the pages you view and your journey around our websites. Detailed information is set out in my Cookie Policy.

GOOGLE ANALYTICS & JETPACK STATISTICS

When you visit Thoroughly Modern Grandma, I use third party services, Google Analytics and Jetpack Statistics, to collect standard internet log information and details of your behaviour patterns.  I do this to find out thing such as the number of visitors to the various parts of the website. This information is only processed in a way which will not identify you. I do not make, and do not allow Google Analytics nor Jetpack Statistics to make, any attempt to find out your identity.

SOCIAL ANALYTICS FOR SHARING

Facebook Like, Facebook Recommend, Facebook Share official buttons

We embed a Facebook widget to allow you to see number of likes/shares/recommends and “like/share/recommend” our webpages. This widget may collect your IP address, your web browser User Agent, store and retrieve cookies on your browser, embed additional tracking, and monitor your interaction with the widget, including correlating your Facebook account with whatever action you take within the widget (such as “liking/sharing/recommending” our webpage), if you are logged in to Facebook. Twitter Tweet official button

We use a Twitter Tweet widget at our website. As a result, our website makes requests to Twitter’s servers for you to be able to tweet our webpages using your Twitter account. These requests make your IP address visible to Twitter, who may use it in accordance with their data privacy policy: https://twitter.com/en/privacy#update

GooglePlus, GooglePlus Share official buttons

We use a GooglePlus widget at our website. As a result, our website makes requests to Google’s servers for you to be able to share our webpages using your GooglePlus account. These requests make your IP address visible to Google, who may use it in accordance with their data privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy

Linkedin Share official button

We use a Linkedin Share widget at our website to allow you to share our webpages on Linkedin. These requests may track your IP address in accordance with their data privacy policy: https://www.linkedin.com/legal/privacy-policy

Pinterest Save official button

We use Pinterest Save widget at our website to allow you to pin images to Pinterest from our webpages. These requests may track your IP address in accordance with their data privacy policy: https://policy.pinterest.com/en/privacy-policy

Reddit Badge official button

We use Reddit Badge widget at our website which may log information when you interact with the widget. This may include your IP address, user-agent string, browser type, operating system, referral URLs, device information (e.g., device IDs), pages visited, links clicked, user interactions (e.g., voting data), the requested URL and hardware settings, in accordance with their privacy policy: https://www.redditinc.com/policies/privacy-policy

StumbleUpon Badge official button

We use StumbleUpon Badge widget at our website which may log information when you interact with the widget. Log Data is a form of Non-Identifying Information, in accordance with their privacy policy: http://www.stumbleupon.com/privacy

MAILING LISTS

As part of the registration process for my email newsletter, I collect personal information.  I use that information for a few reasons:

To tell you about the latest posts on my website.

To contact you if I need to obtain or provide additional information.

To confirm that my records are right.

To check every now and then that you are happy and satisfied.

I DO NOT rent or trade or sell my email lists with ANYONE.

I use a third party provider, MailChimp, to deliver my newsletter.  I gather statistics around email opening and clicks using industry standard technologies to help monitor and improve my newsletter.  If you wish to find out more then please read MailChimp’s privacy notice.

You can unsubscribe from the updates at any time you wish by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any of my emails or by simply emailing me.

COMMENTS

We allow comments to be added beneath all blog posts on this site. The information collected here, which may include names, email addresses and/or website URL’s, will not be added to my mailing list, nor will it ever be passed on or shared with third parties.

There is a comment check box which you must tick only if you are happy to allow your data to be collected for the sole purpose of adding your comment beneath the blog post. If you are not happy for your data to be collected and stored, do not check the box, and your data and comment will not be added to the blog.

We reserve the right to edit or delete any comments submitted to this blog without notice due to, but not limited to:

Comments deemed to be spam or questionable spam

Comments including profanity

Comments containing language or concepts that could be deemed offensive

Comments that attack a person individually

Comments which contain links that are questionable, such as broken links or invalid links.

GIVEAWAYS

I host giveaways on Thoroughly Modern Grandma and I collect email details in order to notify the winner.  I will not use these emails for any other purpose and I will delete them when the Giveaway has been completed.

Any information, such as your name, email address, and postal address, may be shared with the sponsor of the giveaway for the sole purpose of ensuring that you receive your prize.  The sponsor is also subject to General Data Protection Regulations and should also handle your personal data sensitively.

EMBEDDED CONTENT FROM OTHER WEBSITES

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Data Breach Policy

We are committed to ensuring that your information is secure. In order to prevent unauthorised access or disclosure we have put in place physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect on-line. 

We have technology measures and security policies and procedures to protect personal information from unauthorised access, improper use, alteration, unlawful or accidental destruction or accidental loss and we have in place a process to assess the likely risk to individuals as a result of a breach.

We:

have a process to notify the ICO of a breach within 72 hours of becoming aware of it, even if we do not have all the details yet.

know what information we must give the ICO about a breach.

have a process to inform affected individuals about a breach when it is likely to result in a high risk to their rights and freedoms.

will inform affected individuals without undue delay.

know what information about a breach we must provide to individuals, and that we should provide advice to help them protect themselves from its effects.

document all breaches, even if they don’t all need to be reported.

I am happy to receive products to review, but I will only review them if I actually like them! Whilst I am always polite I also reserve the right to be honest and I always disclose products that have been given to me. All posts are driven by editorial content, and if a post is specifically sponsored by a company then it will be marked as such in the footer of the post.
